I could tell you that I didn’t do anything, and I didn’t.

Ghost story

The Train Station by Tracey A Wood 17/06/2015

This story was told to me, many years ago.  The person who told me was the very teacher who encouraged and nurtured my imagination which in turn lead me to writing my first novel.
He explained about the day he met an old friend. He was sitting in the coffee shop at his local train station, waiting for a train (of course), to go home. He had been working away and was eager to see his parents. He had been waiting for a few minutes, staring at his coffee cup. He looked up to see a man, standing in front of him, looking down at him without saying a word. He realised that the man was his lifelong friend who he hadn’t seen for a couple of years.  The man took a seat opposite him and they chatted for a while. His friend seemed a little subdued, compared to his normal bubbly self, he put it down to them not seeing each other in a while. After fifteen to twenty minutes, my teacher looked at his watch, realising his train was due. He explained that he would have to go and suggested that they meet up, when he came back to town. They said goodbye and my teacher caught his train.
He arrived at his parent house and later sat talking to them over their evening meal. The caught up on gossip, who was doing what. How the rest of the family were doing, you know the sort of thing?
His mother suddenly said “oh I forgot to ask, did you hear about Richard?”
“Richard” he questioned?
She went on to explain who she meant.
“Oh, funnily enough I saw him earlier, at the station.”
“I’m sorry son” she said. “You must be mistaken. It couldn’t have been him. He was killed last week in a car accident!”
Was this a ghost? Had his lifelong friend come to say goodbye, one last time? Or had he imagined it?

The main character is Savannah is now 21. It follows on from Waking the witch. Savannah follows in her mothers footsteps and trouble seems to be hot on her heels. Coffee Break - Guest Author

I would like to give a warm welcome to my guest this week on the 'The Author's blog' - Kim Hotzon.

Kim  is here to talk about her Novel 'Hand Full of Ashes'.

Kim's Bio:
Born in beautiful British Columbia, Kim developed a passion for writing at an early age. Her interest in people led her all over the globe, including a two year stay in Japan and a humanitarian trip to Rwanda.
She loves to write romance stories with a twist, usually involving a dangerous and dramatic backdrop. Her first novel, Hands Full of Ashes, was inspired by her trip to Africa.
Kim spent many years teaching young adults with learning disabilities at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and she currently resides in the sunny Okanagan with her husband and two children. When not writing, she can be found plying the local ski hills, or getting lost in her kayak in the surrounding lakes.
Her novel is a sensual, romantic suspense novel inspired by a journey of love in Africa.
Back Cover Blurb
Olivia promises to fulfil her dying husband's wish - to scatter his ashes around the world. Wading through grief and depression, she journeys to a remote orphanage in Uganda. Living amongst the children in their threadbare surroundings, she vows to fight for the children's lives as she begins to fight for her own. While Olivia develops a passion for humanitarian work, the lonely director of the orphanage develops a simmering passion for her.
Just as time begins to heal the wounds of her heart, Olivia learns the truth of her husband's unimaginable betrayal. She flees to the tiny country of Rwanda where her soul is reawakened with a startling new love. Olivia realizes that love always comes with a price when she is faced with a decision she thought she would never have to make.
Surrounded by the rugged beauty of Africa, Olivia is determined to find true love while learning how to survive in a region left torn apart by civil war.
Teaser
Permission was what she sought. Olivia desperately wanted to push forward with her burgeoning relationship with Roger. The desire to be loved, held and protected was an unwavering force, pulsating relentlessly. Danni's abduction weighed on her every day, but she needed to allow herself, on some level, to keep on living, however marginally it would prove to be. In the brief time she had known him, Olivia had received continuous support from Roger. He had put up with her crying spells, her morose state of mind, for days on end.
Now it was time for her to release part of her soul. Yesterday belonged to the past. There was today. She would not think yet about tomorrow. She removed the leather pouch from around her neck and put it away, in her backpack. The dual chamber of her heart existed together, side by side. One for Jack. There is room for another. Let Roger take his place. As she lay on the bed beside him, she felt a pull of electricity surge between them.

Coffee Break - Guest Author

Welcome, Lauren Linwood to, 'The Authors Blog'!
Thanks for hosting me, Tracey! I'm looking forward to interacting with your blog readers.

Lauren's Bio

Lauren Linwood became a teacher who wrote on the side to maintain her sanity in a sea of teenage hormones. Her historical romances use history as a backdrop to place her characters in extraordinary circumstances, where their intense desire for one another grows into the treasured gift of love. Her romantic suspense novels feature strong heroes and heroines who unite to defeat a cleaver antagonist and discover a deep, abiding love during their journey.

A native Texan, Lauren lives in a Dallas suburb with her family. An avid reader, moviegoer, and sports fan, she manages stress by alternating yoga with long walks. She plans to start a support group for House Hunters addicts - as soon as she finishes her next piece of dark chocolate.

Tell me Lauren, what is the inspiration behind your novel?
I read in a variety of genres beyond romance. I love mysteries, thrillers, suspense, biographies, and even horror. Although I will always write historical romances, I wanted to challenge myself as a writer. I enjoy reading romantic suspense, especially authors such as Linda Howard. I decided that it would be a fun endeavour to try writing a romantic suspense. I found it to be a lot of work, but I really am pleased with the end result.

What will readers love most about your hero/heroine?
Callie is so normal! She has attained a certain level of fame as an actress, but she is very down-to-earth and a lot of fun to be around. I think readers will enjoy her personality, as well as how she bounces back from a horrific stalker attack.

Do you have a favourite moment or scene from your book that you would like to share?
There's actually an entire chapter that I love, so I'll simply tell you about it here. My husband and I honeymooned in New Orleans. I found it to be a romantic and sensual city, steeped in history and tradition. I have Nick and Callie go into NOLA for a day, and they do many of the activities my husband and I did on our visit there.

What word(s) best describe your book?
Relatable romance.

Do you have any upcoming events that you would like to share with readers?
My life is incredibly busy right now. I'm planning my daughter's summer wedding! Once that is behind me, I look forward to November's release of another medieval historical romance, A Knight for Kallen and the March 2016 release of my second romantic suspense, Illusions of Death. Also, look for the Mid-June Goodreads giveaway of some of my paperbacks.

We will look forward to that Lauren!
